Aria is a reusable auto-injector that holds medication in a single-use cartridge containing a standard pre-filled syringe with an integrated needle. When the patient needs an injection, they simply insert the cartridge into the reusable auto-injector. Aria automatically activates, locks the cartridge in place, and unlocks the cartridge cover for removal; the patient can then remove the cover, and the device delivers the injection. The needle remains concealed behind a needle shield, accommodating users with needle phobia. As the cartridge's front end is pushed toward the injection site, the device initiates delivery of the entire cartridge contents. Clear audible and visual signals inform the patient of successful injection and—crucially—any issues or failures. After injection, the needle shield re-covers the needle and locks into place for safe disposal.
